Hi Raptive,
I started working at Raptive nine months ago, and every day, I continue to be amazed by all of you—creators from all walks of life sharing content that connects with and genuinely helps others. Your reach is huge across so many interesting, diverse topics, and you’re building brands based on something uniquely powerful—being true to who you are.
I’m even more blown away when I see how you all support one another. Sure, there’s some healthy competition, but you’ve built a community here that’s uplifting and inspiring.
Whether you’re sharing tactics that work, commiserating over the latest industry curveballs, or asking questions that help our team do more for you, it’s that coming together that drives real progress and impact.
That kind of collaboration makes all of us stronger and keeps the industry moving forward.
This week’s newsletter is all about that spirit of support:
•
Learn more about the CIPA lawsuits impacting California creators and how you can help
•
Get a mouthwatering preview of a new “Viral Recipes” digital cookbook to benefit mental health
•
Answer our “Question of the week” feature—we might just share your responses in the future to inspire others!
What’s new
Protect California creators and small publishers by supporting SB 690
We’re supporting a new California
bill—SB 690—that
seeks to clarify the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) and protect small publishers from legal threats, without weakening California’s privacy protections.
Right now, California creators are being targeted by class action lawsuits that exploit the vague language of CIPA, a 1967 anti-wiretap law. These lawsuits claim that standard tools like analytics scripts, ad pixels, or customer support chats are “wiretaps,” even when creators are fully transparent and comply with California’s strong modern privacy laws like the CCPA and CPRA. It’s a dangerous misuse of the law, and it’s putting small, independent publishers at risk.
We all know tools like analytics and advertising keep your site running, improve your content, and help you earn income. This law shouldn’t be used against you.
If you agree, we encourage you to use your voice. If you live in California (or even if you don’t), here’s how you can get involved:
Find California Assembly Members using this website.
Send a quick letter or email asking them to support SB 690. Here’s an easy template you can customize.
Make it personal by sharing how your site helps Californians, mentioning reader comments, or explaining what your content means to your community.
We believe creators should be able to operate responsibly, earn fairly, and serve their readers without fear of being sued for using common, legal, and necessary website tools—and we’ll always stand up for your rights in moments like this.

Quick tip
Don’t let reader comments hurt your ad revenue
“Not filtering or reviewing reader comments before going live is a
common mistake that can hurt your RPM. While most reader comments are kind or curious, others may trigger brand safety flags due to inappropriate language or information taken out of context. Stay ahead of these violations by setting up a system that filters comments before they become a bigger
brand safety issue.”

Raptive creators team up to support mental health
For Mental Health Awareness Month in May, some Raptive food creators came together to create “Viral Recipes,” a new digital cookbook featuring 30 of their most popular dishes—to benefit The Scatter Joy Project.
All proceeds help the “creative mental health company” fund programs, reduce the cost of therapy, and impact the lives of those facing mental health challenges.
See a sneak peek of the yummy recipes, or purchase your own copy of the cookbook on the Scatter Joy website.
