If you’re reading this newsletter parked inches away from your most powerful fan, know that I’m right there with you. How are you beating the heat? While you’re stuck inside, it might be the perfect moment to prioritize one of those “I’ll get to it one day” tasks. Thanks to Google’s latest announcement, now’s actually the perfect time to investigate how people are finding your content outside of your site. Google Search Console now offers you more insights into how your social and video content shows up in Search and Discover, which means your Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X content may be reaching people through Google Search in ways you haven’t been able to measure before. This week, we’re breaking down what changed, what to check, and how to turn those off-site signals into smarter decisions for your content strategy. Also in this week’s edition: • Your Q3 and Q4 content planning guide • Fine-tune your auto-DM strategy • Ensure your lead magnets are working as hard as you are Stay safe and cool! What’s new Social post performance now in Google Search Console Google Search Console (GSC) is giving you a new way to understand how your social content appears in organic search. You can now connect your eligible Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube handles to GSC to view search-specific performance for individual posts. Why it matters: Your social posts may be helping people discover you through Google in ways that were previously hard to see. This new view can help you spot which posts are gaining search visibility, which topics are matching real queries, and where off-site content might deserve a stronger on-site follow-up. Once you’re connected, GSC can report: • Impressions: how often your social posts appeared in organic Google Search results • Clicks: how often people clicked from Search to those posts • CTR: the percentage of impressions that turned into clicks • Average position: where those posts tended to appear in results A few things to keep in mind: • This report is about Google Search performance, not in-platform engagement. • GSC metrics won’t include likes, shares, comments, views, saves, or other platform-native metrics. • Facebook and Pinterest are not available for this feature (yet). • If you’ve already set up Search Profiles and connected social handles to the same Google account you use for GSC, you may already see those handles listed in the top-left menu. Catch the replay → Top resource Finesse your funnel with strategic auto-DMs Now that Google Search Console can show how your social content appears in Search, it’s a great time to make sure those posts are driving readers back to your site and email list. If you’re not already experimenting with auto-DMs using GRO (formerly Grocers List), there’s no time like the present. Check out our team’s best tips for activating your audience and growing loyalty—and remember that you’ll get 25% off your GRO subscription for six months as a Raptive publisher. Turn social engagement into traffic → Quick tip Lead magnets should solve one problem, not every problem “The best lead magnets—a free, high-value resource you offer in exchange for an email address—don’t try to do everything. Instead, they solve one specific problem exceptionally well. A focused checklist, meal plan, or printable often converts better than a comprehensive e-book because it’s quick to consume, easy to implement, and delivers immediate value. When readers get a quick win, they’re much more likely to subscribe and come back for more.” Alexandra Sebestyen Director, Audience Growth & Engagement In case you missed it Everything we learned from Google’s latest core update Another core update has come and gone—and our SEO team ran all the numbers so you don’t have to. Especially on the heels of Google’s decision to bring social visibility to GSC, their analysis reinforces that diversified audience signals and trust still matter. Here’s what changed, what didn’t, and a concrete list of steps you should think about prioritizing as a result. Explore the May core update → What we’re reading Your 30-second industry briefing Authenticity is becoming a competitive advantage. As platforms and advertisers adopt the same AI tools, they’re confronting a flood of content that looks increasingly similar. The creators who retain a distinctive voice and original perspective may become easier—not harder—to recognize. Digiday: Platforms’ AI dilemma: scale without sameness → Platforms are still figuring out AI and creator consent. Meta pulled a new AI feature that accessed public Instagram content after users and industry groups objected. Consider this your periodic reminder to check what you’ve permitted platforms to do with your images and content. Associated Press: Amid criticism, Meta reins in new AI tool that automatically accessed public Instagram images → Instagram is (seemingly) betting on real people. Adam Mosseri argues that audiences surrounded by synthetic content will increasingly seek genuine creativity and human connection. That makes your personal experience, expertise, and audience relationships more strategically important. Business Insider | Gated: Instagram chief Adam Mosseri says human creators will become more valuable as AI content explodes → Question of the week Your latest social post is taking off.
